Deep Forest Garden Inn – Puerto Princesa, Palawan
We had dinner at Deep Forest the other night, and I couldn’t help noticing that they had made some nice changes. There is a whole new terrace level, with lovely rattan seating, and cascades of colored lights.
Jean-Pierre Riccio, Deep Forest’s owner, was in the restaurant when we arrived, so I asked him if he would mind if I took some pictures for Donna On Palawan. He not only didn’t mind, but graciously offered to share an aerial shot taken at dusk that he had commissioned recently. Apparently, the terrace is quite new, and before the awnings were installed, Jean Pierre had a photographer do some studies of the property from the air. The one above was taken just as the sun set, with the colored lights sparkling. It is a gorgeous shot.
You can see the Deep Forest Inn’s pool and giant underwater chess set. Off to the right is a life-size giraffe statue. A zebra shyly hides underneath a tree. Deep Forest also has a jacuzzi, hiding under some trees to the left.
My non-professional pictures look pathetic compared to the one above, but the terrace is charming.
Deep Forest’s Coffee Shop and Restaurant specializes in International Cuisine, offering a variety of choices. For our Australian friends needing a lamb fix, Deep Forest has grilled lamb shanks and a nice lamb stew. The rib eye steaks are really juicy and tender. Plenty of other dishes, light or hearty, are on the menu to tempt diners, too.
